About BARIS
The Board of Airline Representatives in Sweden - BARIS - is a non-profit organization working for the common interests of the scheduled international airlines working in Sweden or Scandinavia. BARIS’ activities concern, both directly and indirectly, airline employees, airline passengers and the employees working at the airports in Sweden. BARIS’ membership companies have approximately 9,000 people employed in Sweden. BARIS’ membership is made up of scheduled airlines. These are either represented by their own staff in Sweden or by their general sales agents. There are four regular meetings held each year with the possibility of extra meetings being called if necessary. Volunteers elected by the general membership for a two-year period run the organization. The Executive Committee consists of a Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, four additional members and two alternate members who act as reserves for a regular member unable to attend meetings. BARIS’ objectives are to inform their members about matters that affect the airlines, their employee’s situations and conditions and to protect and promote the interests of the airline industry in Sweden and Scandinavia. These interests concern a number of matters that directly affect the airlines and their employees and may, when necessary, include lobbying activities on behalf of the members where political decisions and regulations are concerned. However, BARIS does NOT engage itself in:
BARIS also has it's own Crisis Team to assist members with any help and support that they may need during an emergency. The major Swedish/Scandinavian based scheduled airlines belong to BARIS while the majority of the membership is made up of foreign airlines.
